
The LIAISE Virtual Reality (VR) Scenarios for an Immersive Teacher Experience is a dynamic learning tool designed to replicate real-world language learning settings in school environments. Accessible directly via web browser and in VR Headset format, the simulation allows users to immerse into multilingual classroom scenarios, preparing teachers for the complexities of inclusive education. The tool feature three core scenarios, each focused in teaching one language: Portuguese, French, and Greek. All scenarios are available in our national partner languages: English, French, Portuguese, Greek, Dutch, and Italian.
Hardware Compatibility Notice: Please note that 3d/VR scenarios are optimized for desktop and laptop computer only. This functionality is currently not supported on mobile devices (smartphones or tablets). To ensure stability and performance, please access this module from a supported web browser on a computer. For optimal stability and speed, switch to Google Chrome. Chrome is currently the only browser with the performance accelerator integrated by default, preventing lag and tracking issues in the VR environment. Going to a Portuguese Classroom for the first time

Scenario Instructions: In this scenario, the learner arrives in a colorful classroom. A friendly teacher introduces Portuguese words for objects (chair, table, book, backpack, pen, window, door). The player interacts by choosing and repeating words. Small challenges and hints keep the session fun and last about 5 minutes.
Backstory: Portuguese schools are currently being challenged to welcome a large number of foreign students (students with a migrant background), many of whom do not know or speak Portuguese. This scenario aims to help these students begin to have their first contact with the language.
Objectives: Help students with a migrant background to adapt to the Portuguese language and school Learn basic Portuguese classroom vocabulary Practice recognition by interacting with objects. Gain confidence using Portuguese words in context. Stay engaged through gamified tasks.
Discovering Transportation Vocabulary in French

Description of the scenario: The learner arrives in a lively classroom environment designed for French language learning. The room includes posters and digital boards displaying transport-related signs such as Arrêt de bus, Gare, and Aéroport. A friendly teacher avatar introduces key French transportation vocabulary and guides the learner through recognition and matching activities. The learner interacts by observing the classroom displays, selecting objects, repeating words, and completing a short mini-game.
Backstory: This scenario was designed for students learning French as a foreign language, focusing on transport vocabulary useful for everyday travel interactions.

Preparing our Lunch Box for a Field Trip in Greek

Description of the scenario: The scenario takes place in a school classroom. The teacher announces that the day of the field trip has arrived, meaning that students should pack their lunch with them. Various foods, drinks and fruits are scattered across the classroom, and the student, following the teacher’s prompts given in Greek, should collect the correct items to take with them. In this way, students will get to learn basic words and phrases in Greek around food.
Backstory: There are limited resources for practicing and developing Greek language skills online. Usually, Greek language students, especially at a beginner’s level, have to learn long lists of vocabulary and grammar before having the opportunity to practice their language skills in real-life contexts. Through this activity, students will be introduced to an immersive learning method and will put themselves in an interactive environment that gives them the opportunity to learn Greek in an engaging, fun way.
